The ASE/EM Research Machine Shop provides full service prototype fabrication and repairs for all University of Texas at Austin students, faculty, and staff. Although the main focus is fabrication, the shop is also involved in design at all stages of a project. From consulting, engineering, reverse engineering, conceptual and CAD design, to full on prototype fabricating and/or small production manufacturing. From materials selection, modifications, to repairs on scientific instruments, we are a one stop shop. The main goal of the ASE/EM Research Machine Shop is the support and continuation of graduate research projects, big and small, university wide.
The machine shop is staffed by full-time machinists and is equipped with CNC, manual, grinding, sawing, and welding machines. Professional instrumentation is used to adequately measure, cut, and machine every part. The shop has extensive knowledge and experience in a wide range of materials. The ASE/EM Research Machine shop has an open door policy and welcomes your visit.
